WHAT IS River City PREP?
River City Prep is a non-traditional post-graduate prep program based out of Jacksonville, Florida. River City Prep helps student-athletes earn the test scores and/or college credit they need to receive scholarships to four-year institutions.
River City Prep student-athletes attend class every day at St. Johns River State College.
WHAT IS A “POST-GRADUATE” YEAR?
A post-graduate, or “PG year” as it is often called, is a full academic year of study generally pursued between graduation from high school and matriculation at a college or university. A PG year is offered at many independent schools throughout the country and usually involves a residential experience. In the case of River City Prep, “the PG year” is only one semester. Our program runs from July until December.
HOW DO STUDENTS BENEFIT FROM A POST-GRADUATE YEAR?
The environment of a residential, college preparatory school provides the key to the success of a PG year. Our program size is small as the only students that attend are football players. Our facilities mirror those of a college campus, and our weekly schedule is designed to develop the skills a student-athlete needs to meet the challenges of an athletically charged college experience.
WHAT HAPPENS TO MY COLLEGE ELIGIBILITY WHEN I ATTEND River City PREP?
NO eligibility is used while attending River City Prep. Our student-athletes do not enroll in a full-time load of college courses. Therefore, their collegiate eligibility clock does not start. See more information about the eligibility clock here: http://www.ncaa.org/student-athletes/current/transfer-terms
WHAT ARE THE CHANCES MY STUDENT-ATHLETE EARNS A SCHOLARSHIP TO A FOUR-YEAR SCHOOL?

(FBS, FCS, D2, D3, NAIA) In some situations, an “offer” could be an academic offer from a division 3 school. Any combination of financial aid, athletic aid, and academic aid can assist your athlete receive an offer from a four-year school.
HOW WILL MY STUDENT-ATHLETE GET HIS FILM SEEN AND GET RECRUITED?
River City Prep and the NPGAA uses Hudl (www.hudl.com) for the creation of highlight tapes, film breakdown, film study, and recruiting. Players have access to their Hudl accounts so they can create their highlights and have a presentable professional “resume” for college coaches. Our players will have access to the connections and relationships we have built over time as a program. Many colleges will stop through our office on their recruiting trips to high schools in our area.
